Export WhatsApp Messages to PDF from iPhone Backups

Prerequisites

Export WhatsApp chat to PDF

1. Launch iBackup Viewer.

2. Choose the recent created backup

   

3. Click the "WhatsApp Messages" or "WhatsApp Business" icon to load WhatsApp messages

   

4. Navigate to the WhatsApp chat you want to save to PDF file

5. Click the button "as PDF" from the toolbar.

Or, click the button "Export" when the window is in smaller size.

6. Choose "Current Chat" to export selected WhatsApp chat to PDF file.

   Choose "Current Chat as PDF" to save the messages to PDF, if the buttons in the toolbar are collapsed when the window is in small size.

7. Modify output settings of PDF

   The pdf settings will be shown at the first time when you choose to export WhatsApp message to PDF file. Otherwise, you can choose the menu item "PDF Settings" from the dropped menu in step 5.

8. Choose a location to save the exported PDF file

   If you choose to export currently selected chat, you will be prompted to choose a file location to save the generated pdf file. Otherwise, if you choose to export all WhatsApp messages, you need to choose choose a folder location to hold the generated pdf files.

Troubleshoot

• The "WhatsApp Messages" icon does not appear in the backup The reason you can't find the WhatsApp Messages icon, because WhatsApp Messages App was not installed on your iPhone before you created the backup.
• The "WhatsApp Business" icon does not appear in the backup The WhatsApp Business App was not installed on your iPhone before the backup was created.

• There is no photos in the generated PDF file of WhatsApp chat

  There are two possible reasons cause the missing of photos in generated pdf file:

  1. The option is not enabled in preferences.

     

     Open the Preferences of iBackup Viewer, and switch to "Messages". Make sure the option

     • Include images in output PDF file.

     is checked. And, check the options:

     • HEIC format
     • WebP format

     as well if you want to output these two formats of photos.

  2. The photos were not stored locally on the iPhone when the backup was created.
